SME Fund 2026: Voucher 2 has reopened. Up to €700 for trademarks and designs.

Do you want to register your trademark, but the costs have made you postpone? Voucher 2 of the SME Fund 2026 program once again offers small and medium-sized enterprises the opportunity to recover 75% of the official taxes eligible for trademarks and designs, up to 700 euros. It is a concrete opportunity to protect a brand or product at a lower cost.

Interest in the SME Fund 2026 was considerable: between 2 February and 20 April, more than 22,000 voucher applications were submitted, 37% more than in the same period of the previous year. Amid high demand and budget exhaustion, Voucher 2 was closed on 23 April 2026. The reopening offers SMEs a new funding opportunity, but funds are limited and may run out before the end of the programme.

What costs does Voucher 2 cover?

For applications for registration submitted to OSIM or EUIPO, the voucher allows the recovery of:

  • 75% of the official fees eligible for trade marks and designs, including fees for additional classes and, where applicable, other procedural fees covered by the programme;
  • maximum 700 euros per SME, for one or more eligible applications.

OSIM example: for a color logo in a single class, the eligible fees are 1,676 lei, and the 75% refund can reach 1,257 lei.

EUIPO example: the filing fee for a European Union trade mark in a single class is €850. With Voucher 2, you can recover €637.50, so the net cost of this fee reaches only €212.50 after refund. If registered, the European Union trade mark takes effect in all 27 Member States.

Who can apply for funding?

The program is aimed at micro, small and medium-sized enterprises established in the European Union, including those in Romania.

Have you benefited from the SME Fund in 2025 or in another year? You can also apply in 2026. The editions are independent, and Voucher 2 can only be requested once within the current edition.

A single voucher can be used for several brands and/or designs, subject to the total ceiling of 700 euros.

How do you get your refund?

The steps are simple, but they need to be done in the right order: apply for the voucher online, wait for the EUIPO’s favourable decision, submit your application for registration and pay the fees, then submit your refund request to your SME Fund account.

For the required documents and detailed steps, check out our step-by-step guide for SME Fund 2026.

Why is it important to act quickly?

The experience of 2025 is relevant: Voucher 2 reopened on October 20 and closed again on October 29, after only nine days, due to the exhaustion of funds.

Although the SME Fund 2026 edition runs until December 4, 2026, this date does not guarantee the availability of Voucher 2 until then. The funds are granted within the budget, on a “first come, first served” basis.

If you intend to protect your trademark or design, prepare your name or logo, list of products and services, and company documents in advance. This will allow you to go through the financing and registration stages without unnecessary delay.

How can the CAS Agency help you?

The financing procedure is accessible, but an error in the order of stages, exceeding the activation deadline or inappropriate choice of classes can affect both the refund and the protection of the brand.

The TAS Agency team can assist you with checking eligibility, preparing and submitting your voucher application, checking the availability of the trademark, establishing the classes of goods and services and submitting your application to OSIM or EUIPO. We also provide assistance with the registration of designs.
